At Hallam Primary School we are interested in 'How are you clever?' rather than "How clever are you?"

Students' interests are recognised and nurtured as they are encouraged to become life long learners. Independence, initiative and an appreciation of the impact that the 'global workplace' will have on lives in the future, are fostered.

Hallam Primary School offers a style of curriculum delivery which caters to the development of the whole child and embraces preferred learning styles. Student programs are supported by the implementation of Individual Learning Plans, and the provision of open-ended activities engineered to develop the eight Intelligences, with an emphasis on thinking skills.

The Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) are effectively addressed, monitored and assessed from Prep – Year 6.

Assessment & Reporting

Hallam Primary School operates on a comprehensive Annual Assessment and Reporting Timeline, ensuring mandated state and school-based testing and assessment procedures are implemented. Students in Years 3-6 also undertake University of NSW examinations.

Students gain feedback on their individual progress through;

  • Unit Reports – ‘Dynamic Tasks’ (completed termly)
  • June Reports
  • December Reports
  • Informal feedback and discussion are encouraged.

Hallam Primary School’s unique Continuous Evaluation and Reporting Program provides parents with;

  • an opportunity to work alongside your child in their classroom twice per year
  • an opportunity for a minimum of 2 scheduled Parent Interviews with your child’s class teacher
  • an Individual Learning Plan tailored to your child’s needs, and developed and agreed to by the teacher, parent/s and student.
