A message from our Principal

Welcome to Hallam Primary School for 2012. Our school’s purpose is to provide, in partnership with parents, a supportive and engaging learning environment that promotes the development of global learners with the necessary skills, knowledge and values to respond effectively to the demands of the 21st century. Core values to be fostered within the Hallam Primary School community are:
* Learning for success
* Persistence
* Positive partnerships
* Mutual respect
* Trust
* Environmental awareness

Teachers at Hallam Primary School provide explicit and applied instructional teaching programs, as well as purposeful and challenging inquiry-based learning programs designed to expand and progress students’ individual learning to the highest possible standard. Learning activities incorporate high-level thinking and application skills, constructive interpersonal interactions and extensive use of interactive information and communication technologies. Teachers also effectively monitor, assess, provide feedback and report on students’ learning achievements throughout the year.

Parents of students at Hallam Primary School have a responsibility to support their child’s learning achievements by ensuring their child’s health and wellbeing requirements are addressed, their child wears appropriate school uniform, their child has the appropriate personal stationery requisites, their child attends school punctually and regularly and participates in the breadth of school programs, including swimming, excursions, camp, sport and gardening programs, and by ensuring daily home learning expectations, such as SHARE Reading, DiPL Spelling, Mathletics, times tables etc., are completed. Parents have a responsibility to establish daily home learning routines and to communicate effectively with class teachers, and the school, about their child’s wellbeing and any academic matters.

Students at Hallam Primary School are expected to develop constructive relationships with Hallam Primary School staff, other students and approved visitors, to learn effective interpersonal skills and conflict resolution strategies, to develop responsibility and independence, to develop respect for conservation and the environment, to develop a sense of themselves as a member of the global community, to actively participate in and engage with their personal learning, and to develop expectations of high personal achievement and success.

We encourage your involvement in your child’s education through participation in our school’s programs, events and celebrations, and by supporting our school’s high expectations in relation to students’ learning, the completion of daily home-learning requirements, students’ behaviour and students’ attendance. Parental assistance with learning programs, including swimming, excursions and gardening/cooking, is highly valued.

We trust that you and your child will enjoy your time with us at Hallam Primary School and we welcome your interest and participation in your child's education and our school community.
